Roof cleaning and moss removal
Moss on a roof holds water, lifts tiles and blocks gutters, and it makes a house look older than it is. We remove it properly: scraped off, treated with biocide and washed at low pressure, on tiled, slated and all other roof types. It is soft wash roof cleaning: the moss is treated and lifted rather than blasted.

What the job covers
The washing is carried out at low pressure. A high-pressure lance strips the surface from a tile and drives water beneath it, so we never use one on a roof.
- All roof types, tiled or slated, bungalow or two-storey
- Moss scraped off before any washing begins
- Biocide applied to treat what remains in the joints and slow regrowth
- Low-pressure wash to finish, never a high-pressure lance on the tiles
- Moss and scrapings cleared from the gutters during the job
- Roof sealing afterwards, on request
Absolutely delighted with the work done by James! He removed all the algae from the roof and walls, power washed the walls, and did a fantastic job on painting the whole exterior. The attention to detail was excellent, and he was very quick and efficient at the same time. Getting lots of compliments on how well the house looks now. I would 100% recommend James - he has a great work ethic, he’s a real professional, and very easy to deal with.
How it is done
Assessment
James visits the property, inspects the roof, identifies the roof type and the extent of the growth, and confirms how it can be reached. You receive a price on the day.
Scrape and Treat
The heavy moss is scraped off. Biocide is then applied and left to work on the growth the scraper cannot reach.
Low-Pressure Wash
The roof is washed at low pressure and the gutters are cleared of the debris. Sealing is available as a separate job on request.

Will cleaning damage the tiles?
No. The moss is scraped rather than blasted, and the wash is carried out at low pressure. It is high-pressure washing that breaks the surface of a tile.
What is biocide?
A treatment that kills moss, algae and lichen at the root, including spores that are not visible. Scraping removes the growth present today; the biocide deals with what would otherwise grow back.
How long will the roof stay clean?
It depends on the roof, the trees around it and how much shade it receives. A treated roof stays clean considerably longer than one that is only scraped, and James will give you a realistic expectation for yours.
